This project was conducted under our previous trading name, Straw Works. The extension was difficult to get passed by the planners, who had particular ideas of how it should look. We adapted the original design to be a loadbearing straw building. The School of Natural Building (SNaB) ran training courses for straw, lime and clay and one of their trainees worked as a professional builder on the project.
